Job summary

Quality Correctional Care (QCC) is seeking a registered nurse to provide compassionate healthcare to justice-involved patients at Tippecanoe Community Corrections. The role includes administering medications, conducting intakes, responding to sick calls, and performing physicals while coordinating with the medical team.

The RN will manage chronic conditions, educate patients on health concerns, and respond to emergencies, ensuring care aligns with state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

  • Valid RN licensure in the state.
  • Valid CPR certification.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to push, pull, reach and bend frequently.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients by providing the following: Administer medications; Perform medical intakes and assess fitness for incarceration; Respond to sick call requests and coordinate with medical providers; Check and/or change medical dressings; Perform 14-day physicals; Manage chronic care; Provide patient education; Respond to medical emergencies.
  • Maintain working knowledge of pharmacology, including drug reactions/overdoses, formulary/non-formulary medications, and medication costs.
  • Provide guidance to Medically Trained Personnel as needed and comply with laws and regulations.

Nursing Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients by providing the following:
    • Administer medications
    • Perform medical intakes and assess if patient is fit for incarceration, as needed
    • Respond to sick call requests and follow up with the medical provider when needed
    • Check and/or change medical dressings as required by the medical provider
    • Performing 14-day physicals
    • Managing chronic care
    • Providing patient education on health concerns
    • Responding to medical emergencies
      • Be capable of performing life saving measures and ability to take charge and give direction in an emergency.
  • Maintain working knowledge of pharmacology, including but not limited to drug reaction/overdose, formulary/non-formulary medications, and knowledge of medication costs
  • Be able to provide insight and direction to Medically Trained Personnel, as needed.
  • Comply with all current and future state, federal, and local laws and regulations

Requirements
