Job summary

Quality Correctional Care (QCC) is seeking a registered nurse to provide medical and mental healthcare within the Grant County Jail in Marion, Indiana. The role involves administering medications, performing health assessments, managing chronic conditions, and responding to emergencies in a correctional setting.

Ideal candidates hold RN licensure and CPR certification, with the ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients.
  • Administer medications.
  • Perform medical intakes and assess fitness for incarceration.
  • Respond to sick calls and follow up with medical provider.
  • Check/change medical dressings as required.
  • Perform 14-day physicals and manage chronic care.
  • Provide patient education on health concerns.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and take charge when needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of pharmacology, formulary and medication costs.
  • Provide insight/direction to Medically Trained Personnel.
  • Comply with state, federal and local laws and regulations.

Nursing Responsibilities:
  • Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients by providing the following:
    • Administer medications
    • Perform medical intakes and assess if patient is fit for incarceration, as needed
    • Respond to sick call requests and follow up with the medical provider when needed
    • Check and/or change medical dressings as required by the medical provider
    • Performing 14-day physicals
    • Managing chronic care
    • Providing patient education on health concerns
    • Responding to medical emergencies
      • Be capable of performing life saving measures and ability to take charge and give direction in an emergency.
    • Maintain working knowledge of pharmacology, including but not limited to drug reaction/overdose, formulary/non-formulary medications, and knowledge of medication costs
    • Be able to provide insight and direction to Medically Trained Personnel, as needed.
    • Comply with all current and future state, federal, and local laws and regulations
Location:

GrantCounty Jail - Marion, Indiana

Shift Opening(s):
  • 8 AM to 4PM Fridays. Availability to pick up shifts at neighboring Blackford County Jail in Hartford City if someone is wanting more hours (18 hrs/week, three 6 hr shifts).
Requirements:
  • Valid RNlicensure
  • Valid CPR certification
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
