Summary of Job Duties: The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care to assigned patients in our Perinatal Unit (E6). UAMS Perinatal unit is located in the Harry P. Ward Clinical Tower. E6 Perinatal provides high-risk obstetrical care for patients all over the state. On average, this unit performs 300-330 deliveries per month. The unit consists of 28 rooms and a state-of-the-art newborn procedure room used to stabilize neonates with a specially trained interdisciplinary team. The rooms allow the mother and families to recover and bond with newborn. E6 Perinatal supports patient and family centered care and as a result, the newborns, if stable, are allowed to stay with their mothers after delivery to promote bonding.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with an Associate's Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor's in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing.

• Valid RN License.

• Minimum of 1 year Registered Nursing experience.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Basic computer skills.

• Strong work ethic and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 or more years of nursing experience with current BLS.

• Collects and documents assessment data from patients and/or others per UAMS standard.

• Develops patient's Plan of Care (POC) per department/unit standards utilizing assessment data.

• Evaluates the progress of patients toward attainment of desired outcomes.

• Administers medication following department/unit standards and Nurse Practice Act.

• Verifies and evaluates care delivered to ensure it is consistent with patient and family centered care principles, practice standards and regulatory requirements.

• Supports the integration of current evidence into nursing practices.

• Promotes an environment conducive to positive educational experience for all students and staff.

• Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning.

• Effectively collaborates and communicates with nursing staff at all levels, interdisciplinary teams, executive leaders, and other stakeholders.

• Communicates care appropriately through documentation in the medical record.

• Reports variances in care/ systems/ processes through the appropriate means. Participates in recruitment/retention of staff.

• Facilitates development and implementation of nursing practice standards that are evidence-based and in compliance with ANA standards.

• May perform other duties as assigned.
