RN Part-time Nights Admissions - Intake Opportunities at Maple Heights Behavioral Health

- 12-hour shifts on weekends
- Every other weekend
Maple Heights Behavioral Health is a new, 120-bed inpatient hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana, providing comprehensive treatment for adolescents, adults, and seniors with mental health disorders.

PURPOSE STATEMENT:
The clinical professional facilitates admissions, conducts clinical intake assessments, and manages utilization review to ensure appropriate care levels and resource use.
Responsibilities
- Review medical documentation for all admissions, complete medication reconciliation, and obtain admission orders from physicians.
- Facilitate emergency transfers for patients with medical emergencies outside the facility’s capabilities.
- Review referrals from hospitals and community agencies for medical and behavioral acuity, responding within policy timeframes.
- Respond to inquiries about the facility, providing appropriate recommendations.
- Conduct assessments to determine the appropriate level of care.
- Collaborate with medical and psychiatric staff for recommendations and admissions.
- Manage the admissions process, including assessment, consent, and inventory of belongings.
- Perform insurance benefit verifications and secure pre-authorizations.
- Monitor patient status during admissions as per policies and orders.
- Use web-based programs to track and review referrals.
- Communicate projected admissions promptly to internal teams.
- Ensure receipt of all clinical information prior to admission when possible.
- Schedule and complete pre-admission assessments, consult with physicians, and communicate recommendations.
- Maintain accurate medical records to support authorization requests.
- Complete pre-authorization for treatment and admission within payor timeframes.
- Admit patients into the registration system, completing all forms.
- Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude, prioritizing patient safety.
- Address and resolve patient complaints when needs are unmet.
- Coordinate follow-up care and referrals for non-admitted patients.
- Demonstrate urgency and provide excellent customer service.
- Conduct safety checks and supervision as per guidelines.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Nursing.
- At least one year of clinical or observational experience, preferably in a relevant specialty.
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Active nursing license in the state.
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification (training provided upon hire).
- First aid may be required depending on state or facility policies.
