Job description

PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) - Full Time

Proposed Schedule: 10:00am to 7:30pm, 4 days a week

Requirements: Strong critical care experience required. ACLS certification required; PALS must be completed prior to the end of orientation.

About the Role

Our PACU delivers services across multiple surgical specialties in a hospital-based setting. We are a high-energy unit that provides peri-operative care for a diverse patient population, offering numerous educational opportunities. The environment emphasizes teamwork and process improvements for the benefit of patients, staff, and the community.

Unit Details

• 28-bed unit caring for patients undergoing surgery requiring moderate to general anesthesia.
• Variety of surgical procedures including general, orthopedic, neuro, cardiothoracic, vascular, bariatric, and urology.
• RN staffing ratio of 2:1, with 1:1 for higher acuity patients; tech support available.
• Monitoring patient condition throughout sedation recovery.
• Fast-paced environment requiring excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills.
• Collaborative care with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and other team members.

Qualifications

Education: Current RN license.

Licensure: Eligible for licensure in Missouri or licensed in Missouri.

Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) through the American Heart Association or completed within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
