Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center is seeking a Staff Nurse for Pre-procedural and Post-Anesthesia Care Units. The RN will operate in PPCU/PACU, with cross-unit float as needed, interfacing with patients, families and physicians to deliver safe perioperative care.

Requirements include Nevada RN licensure, BSN preferred, ACLS/BLS, PALS, and optional CPAN/ASPAN. Expect on-call duties and SCIP/Safety compliance within a busy surgical services setting in Las Vegas.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree from an accredited school
• Licensed in State of Nevada – Registered Nurse
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)
• PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support
• Moderate Sedation – in house certification
• CPAN, ASPAN membership preferred
• 3-5 years in Peri-Operative Services or related units

Responsibilities

• Clinically competent in PPCU/PACU; Endo service line; float to other departments as needed
• Make timely clinical decisions considering factors
• Handle stress and multitask in PPCU/PACU environment
• Participate in on-call roster as needed
• Engage in Core Measures, SCIP and Safety initiatives

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Staff Nurse of Pre-procedural and Post-Anesthesia Care Units, as part of Peri-Operative/ Surgical Services is a clinically competent Registered Nurse in the areas of Pre-and Post-operative area, and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit; working within the provisions laid down by the Nevada State Board Of Nursing, N.R.S. 449- and N.A.C

Position Details

• The Staff Nurse should be clinically competent in his/her area in PPCU, PACU or Endo service line, floating to task as needed in a different department to the home department, interfacing directly with patients, physicians and families.
• The Staff Nurse must have the ability to make decisions accurately and timely, taking clinical and environmental factors into consideration.
• The PPCU/PACU Staff Nurse’s area of responsibility may be stressful at times, with multi-tasking skills essential
• The Staff Nurse will be expected to participate in the on-call roster as needed
• Participate in all Core Measures, SCIP initiatives, Safety initiatives as determined by the Hospital

What qualifications you will need:

• Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing, Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred
• Licensed in State of Nevada – Registered Nurse
• Advanced Cardiac Life
• Basic Cardiac Life Support
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt
• Moderate Sedation – in house certification
• CPAN, and or/membership of ASPAN preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years in Peri-Operative Services, for either Endoscopy, Pre-& Postoperative Care unit, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. Or ICU required to qualify for consideration
