Job summary

Mercy STL Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for Preadmission Screening on a 4 x 9-hour shift schedule (36 hours per week). The RN will utilize the nursing process to provide patient care, coordinate with other departments, and ensure patient rights and confidentiality are maintained.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program.
• BSN preferred for this role.
• Hold an RN license in the hiring state and/or a valid compact license.
• BLS certification through American Heart Association.
• Minimum of 1 year RN experience required.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care for assigned patients.
• Maintains professional accountability for care provided by direct caregivers and evaluates overall effectiveness.
• Coordinates patient care in collaboration with other departments while upholding patient rights and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Required Education: Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program
• Preferred Education: BSN
• Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
• Certifications: BLS through American Heart Association
• Experience: At least 1 year of RN experience.

Transforming the Health of Our Communities

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
