Job summary

Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for General Surgery on 3W. This part-time position offers 24 hours per week with day shifts 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

The role uses the nursing process to provide patient care, ensures patient rights and confidentiality, coordinates care with other departments, and upholds Mercy's mission and values. A MissouriRN license or compact licensure is required, with BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri or compact licensure.
• Previous hospital experience is preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or within 30 days of hire.

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care.

• Location: Mercy Hospital South - 10010 Kennerly Rd, St. Louis, Missouri 63128
• Schedule: Part time | 24 hours/week, WEO Shift: Days 7a-7p

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:
  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Nursing Diploma
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Licensure: Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.
• Experience: Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.

Certifications

• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education: BSN preferred
  • Licensure: Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred
  • Experience: Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they travelled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
