Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited diploma, associate degree or baccalaureate degree nursing program required.
  • BSN degree preferred. Non-BSNs must complete a BSN within 5 years of hire.
  • Active NJ State Nursing License; BLS certification required; ACLS/PALS preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and direct primary nursing care for cardiovascular/pulmonary/vascular patients.
  • Perform comprehensive assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of complex multisystem deficits.
  • Direct and guide unit resources; assume leadership roles including Charge Nurse, committee leadership, and staff education.

Job description

Position Summary

Position Summary: Utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct primary nursing care to patients with cardiovascular/pulmonary/vascular health deficits, in whom outcomes may be unpredictable. Performs comprehensive assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of complex multisystem health care deficits; directs the nursing care of unstable patients or patients requiring complex care management. Handles multiple demands and tasks simultaneously, demonstrating clinical problem‑solving skills. Is supported by the nurse manager, assistant nurse manager and charge nurse in assuming unit leadership roles including, but not limited to, serving as the Charge Nurse, committee leadership, unit orientation and education; directs and guides the use of resources for patient care.

Experience

Experience: One year experience in cardiopulmonary nursing to work on telemetry units; two years experience in critical care nursing to work in critical care units. Requires completion of Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation, IV Therapy Certification, Hemodynamics, and Mock Code Workshop within 90 days of hire or promotion – or at the first available course offering.

Education

Education: Graduate of an accredited diploma, associate degree or baccalaureate degree nursing program required. Bachelors degree in nursing preferred. Non‑BSN’s must complete a BSN degree within 5 years of hire.

License and Credentials

License and Credentials: NJ State Nursing License; BLS certification required. ACLS Certification, PALS Certification preferred.

Compensation

The minimum starting rate for this position is $47.08. When determining a team member’s base rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., years of recent relevant experience, education, credentials, and internal equity).
