GENERAL OVERVIEW:
The Registered Nurse assesses human responses and plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families. The nurse is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed professional and is accountable for the quality of care delivered. Nursing care is provided in an outpatient setting.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide transformational leadership in a professional practice setting, contributing to the future of healthcare.
- Act as a team player, helping others succeed through role modeling and mentoring.
- Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff skill levels, including duties during charge roles.
- Maintain a safe environment, considering patient condition, intervention complexity, and expected outcomes.
- Provide verbal and written feedback to peers regarding clinical practice and performance.
- Share knowledge, foster a positive work environment, and promote effective communication and collaboration.
- Accept mistakes constructively, encouraging a culture of safe risk-taking, creativity, and adaptability.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate clinical care and health services.
- Promote patient safety initiatives, such as National Patient Safety Goals.
- Participate in quality initiatives and ensure appropriate use of order sets.
- Supervise and evaluate delegated tasks within the scope of practice.
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement patient care tailored to individual needs, including family involvement.
- Set culturally and age-appropriate expected outcomes involving patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Analyze health status data to determine patient care needs.
- Monitor patient condition changes, notify physicians or supervisors, intervene, and document appropriately.
- Accept assignments beyond primary units as appropriate, within competency limits.
- Commit to lifelong learning and professional development for self and colleagues.
- Engage in professional organizations and continuous education based on current research and evidence.
- Participate in peer reviews and seek feedback to identify strengths and areas for growth.
- Adhere to time and attendance policies.
- Prioritize patient-centered care by evaluating satisfaction and advocating for patients and families.
- Participate in patient satisfaction initiatives, promote compassionate communication, and address concerns.
- Manage time effectively to complete duties within shifts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance
- Current PA RN license or multi-state licensure via eNLC
- CPR certification
