GENERAL OVERVIEW:
The Registered Nurse assesses human responses and plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families. The nurse is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed professional and is accountable to patients for the quality of care delivered. Nursing care is provided in an outpatient setting.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide transformational leadership by contributing to the future of healthcare.
- Contribute as a team player, helping others succeed through role modeling and mentoring.
- Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff skill levels, including duties during charge roles.
- Maintain a safe environment, considering patient condition, intervention complexity, and outcome predictability.
- Provide feedback to peers regarding clinical practice and performance.
- Share knowledge and promote a positive, collaborative work environment.
- Accept mistakes and foster a culture of safety, creativity, flexibility, and resilience.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate clinical care or health services.
- Promote patient safety initiatives, such as National Patient Safety Goals.
- Participate in department-specific quality initiatives and ensure proper use of order sets.
- Supervise and evaluate delegated LPN scope of practice as appropriate.
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement patient care tailored to individual needs.
- Develop culturally and age-appropriate expected outcomes involving patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Assess health status, compare data with norms, and determine care needs.
- Monitor patient condition changes, notify physicians or supervisors, and document interventions.
- Accept assignments beyond primary units within individual competencies.
- Engage in continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
- Participate in professional organizations and activities to advance the nursing profession.
- Use current research and evidence-based practices for skill and knowledge development.
- Participate in peer reviews and seek feedback to identify strengths and areas for growth.
- Adhere to time and attendance policies.
- Prioritize patient and family satisfaction, acting as an advocate and addressing concerns.
- Engage in patient satisfaction initiatives and promote compassionate, patient-centered communication.
- Assess and resolve patient and family concerns effectively.
- Manage time efficiently to complete duties within shifts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Clearance
- Current PA RN licensure or multi-state licensure via eNLC
- CPR certification
