GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Registered Nurse assesses human responses and plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families. The RN is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed nurse and is accountable to patients for the quality of care delivered. Nursing care is delivered in an outpatient setting.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. The registered nurse provides transformational leadership in a professional practice setting by striving to create and participate in the future of healthcare.
  2. Contributes to team building by helping others succeed through role modeling and mentoring.
  3. Assigns or delegates tasks based on patient needs and staff skill levels, including duties and lunches when performing charge roles.
  4. Maintains a safe environment considering patient condition, intervention complexity, and expected outcomes.
  5. Provides peers with verbal and written feedback on clinical practice and performance.
  6. Shares knowledge with peers and fosters a positive work environment promoting effective communication, trust, and collaboration.
  7. Accepts mistakes as learning opportunities, promoting a culture of safety, creativity, flexibility, resiliency, and adaptability.
  8. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate clinical care and health services.
  9. Promotes patient safety initiatives, such as National Patient Safety Goals.

  11. Supervises and evaluates delegated LPN scope of practice as appropriate.
  12. Uses the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement individualized patient care plans.
  13. Derives culturally and age-appropriate expected outcomes involving patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  14. Analyzes health data to determine patient care needs.
  15. Monitors patient condition changes, notifies physicians/supervisors, intervenes, and documents accordingly.
  16. Accepts assignments beyond primary units within individual competencies.
  17. Commits to continuous learning and professional development for self and others.
  18. Participates in professional organizations and seeks ongoing education using current research and evidence-based practices.
  19. Engages in peer reviews and gathers informal feedback to identify strengths and areas for growth.
  20. Adheres to time and attendance policies.
  21. Centers patient and family satisfaction in care, advocating for their needs.
  22. Participates in patient satisfaction initiatives and promotes compassionate, patient-centered communication.
  23. Resolves patient/family concerns when possible.
  24. Manages time effectively to complete duties within shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Clearance
  • Current PA RN license or multi-state licensure via eNLC
  • CPR certification

Preferred:

  • Specialty certification
