GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Registered Nurse assesses human responses and plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families. The nurse is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed professional and is accountable for the quality of care delivered. Nursing care is provided in an outpatient setting.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide transformational leadership within a professional practice setting, contributing to the future of healthcare.
  2. Collaborate as a team player, helping others succeed through role modeling and mentoring.
  3. Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff skill levels, including duties during charge roles.
  4. Maintain a safe environment, considering patient condition, intervention complexity, and expected outcomes.
  5. Provide feedback to peers regarding clinical practice and role performance.
  6. Share knowledge and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
  7. Accept mistakes and promote a culture of safety, creativity, flexibility, resilience, and adaptability.
  8. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to evaluate clinical care and health services.
  9. Promote patient safety initiatives, such as National Patient Safety Goals.
  10. Participate in quality initiatives and ensure appropriate use of order sets.
  11. Supervise and evaluate LPNs within their scope of practice.
  12. Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement patient care tailored to individual needs.
  13. Develop culturally and age-appropriate expected outcomes involving patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  14. Assess health status, compare data to norms, and determine care needs.
  15. Monitor patient condition changes, notify physicians or supervisors, intervene, and document appropriately.
  16. Accept assignments beyond primary units within personal competency.
  17. Engage in continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
  18. Participate in professional organizations and activities that advance the profession.
  19. Seek ongoing learning through research and evidence-based practices.
  20. Participate in peer review, gather feedback, and identify areas for growth.
  21. Adhere to time and attendance policies.
  22. Center care around patient and family satisfaction, acting as an advocate.
  23. Participate in patient satisfaction initiatives and promote compassionate, patient-centered communication.
  24. Address and resolve patient and family concerns.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Current PA RN licensure or multi-state licensure via eNLC
  • CPR certification

Preferred

  • Specialty certification
