Description

JOB PURPOSE:

Performs a variety of patient care activities in accordance with established standards and practice.

Key Responsibilities:

• Triage incoming telephone calls; responds to questions regarding medications and treatment instructions; coordinates telephone requests to refill prescription medications in accordance with physicians' directions and protocols.
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments per clinical nursing standards; observes, records, and reports patients' conditions; advises physicians of adverse reactions to drugs or treatments.
• Provides patient education and teaching under the physician's direction; answers questions regarding diagnostic testing and treatment.
• Dresses wounds according to standard procedures.
• Administers and monitors IV fluids and medications as necessary.
• Performs MA duties as indicated (see MA III job description).

Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Graduate of a nursing program.

Minimum Experience Required:

One (1) year of nursing experience.

Minimum Licensure/Certification Required By Law:

State of Georgia Licensure as a registered nurse; AHA BLS certification.
