Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC, is seeking an OR RN to deliver direct patient care during surgical procedures in a high-acuity environment.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safety, proper asepsis, and efficient flow, while upholding standards of patient care and safety across multiple surgical specialties.

Qualifications

• Current DC RN license (or eligible for DC licensure).
• BLS and ACLS (must be AHA-certified).
• Minimum 1 year of experience in the Operating Room or Perioperative setting.

Responsibilities

• Circulate or scrub for surgical procedures across multiple specialties.
• Perform pre-op assessments and intra-op monitoring.
• Maintain aseptic techniques and enforce infection control policies.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical techs.
• Document patient status and surgical events accurately and in real-time.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families pre- and post-procedure.
• Participate in staff training and continuous improvement initiatives.

Operating Room Overview

Our state-of-the-art Operating Room handles over 10,000 surgical cases per year, spanning trauma, neurosurgery, orthopedics, robotics, general surgery, and open-heart procedures. With 17 modern OR suites and dedicated support teams, we provide high-acuity, high-complexity care while fostering continuous learning and professional growth.

Position Summary

As an OR RN at GW Hospital, you will deliver direct patient care during surgical procedures, ensuring a safe, sterile, and efficient environment. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary surgical team to provide outstanding care and uphold the highest standards of patient safety.

Main Tasks

• Circulate or scrub for surgical procedures across multiple specialties
