Job summary

George Washington University Hospital in downtown Washington, DC seeks a night-shift Med Surg RN to support pre and postoperative patients across multiple surgical specialties. You will provide patient-centered nursing care and collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams in a high-acuity setting.

Ideal candidates have an RN license in good standing, NLN-accredited program completion, BLS, and preferably 1 year of acute care experience.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in good standing.
• Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
• Prefer one year full time or three years part time experience in acute care setting.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality, patient-centered nursing care.
• Collaborate with physicians, APPs, and interdisciplinary teams.

This is a night-shift Med Surg RN role supporting pre and postoperative patients across a wide variety of surgical specialties, offering strong clinical exposure and long-term growth opportunities.

This role is ideal for RNs who enjoy variety, collaboration, and developing advanced surgical nursing skills in a well-supported hospital environment.

Unit Overview

• 39bed General Surgery / Med Surg unit
• Pre and postoperative care with bariatric surgery designation (Center of Excellence)
• Patient populations include:
  • Laparoscopic & minimally invasive procedures
  • Bariatric surgery
  • Tracheostomies
  • Kidney & liver transplants
  • Trauma and complex surgical cases
• Opportunity to develop skills across multiple surgical specialties
