Job summary

Quality Correctional Care (QCC) is seeking a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or registered nurse (RN) to join our LaGrange, IN jail-based medical team. You will provide comprehensive healthcare, administer medications, perform intakes, respond to sick calls, and manage chronic conditions in a correctional setting.

Requirements include Indiana or Compact licensure and CPR certification. The shift is 7:00 AM to 3 PM, five days per week with every-other weekend rotation.

Qualifications

• Indiana or Compact LPN/RN licensure is required.
• CPR certification is required.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients.
• Administer medications.
• Perform medical intakes and assess fitness for incarceration.
• Respond to sick call requests and coordinate with medical provider.
• Check/change medical dressings as required.
• Perform 14-day physicals and manage chronic care.
• Provide patient education on health concerns.
• Respond to medical emergencies and take charge in emergencies.

Nursing Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients by providing the following:
• Administer medications
• Perform medical intakes and asses if patient is fit for incarceration, as needed
• Respond to sick call requests and follow up with the medical provider when needed
• Check and/or change medical dressings as required by the medical provider
• Performing 14-day physicals
• Managing chronic care
• Providing patient education on health concerns
• Responding to medical emergenciesBe capable of performing life saving measures and ability to take charge and give direction in an emergency
• Maintain working knowledge of pharmacology, including but not limited to drug reaction/overdose, formulary/non-formulary medications, and knowledge of medication costs
• Be able to provide insight and direction to Medically Trained Personnel, as needed
• Comply with all current and future state, federal, and local laws and regulations

Location: LaGrange County Jail in LaGrange, IN

Shift Opening(s): 7:00 AM to 3 PM (5 days per week with an every other weekend rotation)

Requirements

• Valid LPN or RN licensure in Indiana or Compact
• Valid CPR certification
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently
• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds

Compensation: $32-42/hour based on licensure and experience
