Job summary

Westminster Communities of Florida is seeking a Nurse (RN or LPN) to provide direct nursing care in our Rapid Recovery Unit or Skilled Nursing areas and supervise daily nursing tasks performed by CNAs and LPNs. This role includes rotating shifts (PT and FT) to meet staffing needs.

The candidate must hold an active Florida RN or LPN license, be CPR certified, and have experience in long-term care or geriatric settings; on-the-job training is available for gaps in experience.

• One year of long-term care experience preferred; on-the-job training available.

Responsibilities

• Plan resident care by following physician orders and supervising day-to-day activities.

• Coordinate appointments, labs, and transportation for residents.

RN/LPN ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. 1) Assist in planning resident care by following physician orders
2. 2) Implement resident care based on physician orders
3. 3) Evaluate care and communicate with doctors for updates of orders
4. 4) Administer medication, IV's, give shots, update patient records, provide emotional support, patient education, basic diagnostics, and other patient procedures for residents
5. 5) Receive and transcribe orders from attending physicians
6. 6) Monitor blood glucose, temperature, and blood pressure when necessary
7. 7) Respond to all emergencies
8. 8) Schedule doctor's appointments and coordinate transportation for the residents. Includes scheduling labs and transcribing lab results
9. 9) Supervise CNA's and LPNs as Charge Nurse - ensure they are providing resident care based on physician orders and defined care plans.

RN/LPN ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Must be currently licensed in the State of Florida as a Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse.

Must be CPR Certified.

Experience and Basic Knowledge:

One year of long-term care desirable. Med-Surg, Home Health experience helpful, experience working with the elderly, handicapped or developmentally disabled adults preferred. Will train on-the- job in lieu of above experience.

Comply with all applicable rules, policies, standards, and guidelines related to employment with
Westminster Services and its communities.

1. 1) Supervise CNAs as the Charge Nurse; ensure that CNAs are following physician orders.
2. 2) Implement resident care based on physician orders. Evaluate care and communicate with
   doctors for updates of orders (PRN). Complete admission documentation in ECS.
3. 3) Assist with the evaluation of residents for medical needs/changes. Assist with planning
   resident care based on physician orders. Enter physician orders into ECS.
4. 4) Ensure that residents are receiving their medication based on doctor's orders/complete
   medication pass.
5. 5) Maintain the medication cart including audit procedures for PRN medication and controlled
   medicines as defined by the nursing standards.
6. 6) Perform skin evaluations and skin treatment as required by skin treatment protocols. Monitor
   blood glucose, temperature, and blood pressure.
7. 7) Assist patients/residents with Activities of Daily Living such as bathing, dressing, grooming,
   eating, transferring, ambulating, toileting, and other resident needs.
