Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an RN OR Coordinator to ensure efficient operating room operations, coordinating nursing activities and surgical schedules. You will liaise with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to maintain a sterile and compliant environment, optimizing patient outcomes and resource use.

The role requires perioperative RN experience, BLS, and CNOR as preferred. Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills are essential to support training and quality

Qualifications

  • Current and valid RN license in the United States.
  • Minimum of 3 years perioperative nursing experience.
  • BLS certification.
  • Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing standards.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily operating room schedules and staff availability.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses to optimize workflow.
  • Ensure infection control and safety standards in the OR.
  • Orient and train new perioperative staff and support ongoing development.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, staffing, and equipment.
  • Respond to emergencies to minimize disruptions.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives for patient safety and efficiency.

About the Role:

The RN OR Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the operating room by coordinating nursing activities and facilitating communication among surgical teams. This position is responsible for overseeing the preparation, scheduling, and management of surgical procedures to optimize patient outcomes and resource utilization. The coordinator acts as a liaison between surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to maintain a safe and sterile environment. They also monitor compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies to uphold the highest quality of care. Ultimately, the RN OR Coordinator ensures that all perioperative processes are executed seamlessly to support excellent patient care and operational efficiency.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.

  • Minimum of 3 years of perioperative nursing experience, preferably in an operating room setting.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and perioperative nursing standards.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) credential.

  • Experience in operating room coordination or management roles.

  • Advanced certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).

  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and surgical scheduling software.

  • Demonstrated leadership or team management experience.
