Job summary

JumpStart Games is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the operating room team in Florida. The ideal candidate will be a graduate of an accredited RN program with an active Florida license and at least one year of OR experience.

Current CPR and ACLS certifications are required; CNOR is preferred. The nurse will assist surgeons, maintain sterile fields, prepare instruments, monitor patients during induction, and support anesthesia personnel as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Registered Nursing.
• Active Florida RN license.
• Minimum of one year experience in O.R.
• Current CPR and ACLS certifications.
• CNOR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as scrub or circulating nurse and ensure sterile technique throughout procedures.
• Prepare supplies and instruments for cases and maintain instrument counts.
• Verify patient identity and procedure, and assist in patient transport to and from OR.
• Monitor patient status and assist anesthesia staff as needed during induction and local sedation cases.
• Maintain sterile field and provide instruments and supplies to surgeon as required.
• Assist with room turnover, clean the OR, and document post‑op calls and patient responses.

Job description

Essential Functions

• May act as scrub nurse or circulating nurse during operative procedures. Checks medical gas alarm panel and sterilizers for proper functioning at the beginning of the surgery day.
• Assists Scrub Tech with opening supplies for the case.
• Prepares patient for surgery by verifying patient identity and scheduled procedure and assists patient into OR.
• Helps to relieve patient’s apprehension before and during administration of anesthesia; offers assistance to anesthesia personnel as needed.
• Remains at patient’s side during induction. Performs surgical prep.
• Makes additional instruments and supplies available as requested during the operation.
• Records vital signs and gives medications as ordered by physician or anesthesia personnel during local sedation cases.
• Counts sponges and needles that may be required by surgical case/procedure.
• Assists in transferring patient to PACU.
• Assures that supplies for each case are ready for use.
• Assists in cleaning of room after a case.
• Assists with post‑op call to patient and documents call and patient’s responses on patient’s record.
• Takes inventory and restocks supplies as needed in O.R.
• Updates physicians’ cards as needed. Performs functions in the instrument processing system.
• Assists with nursing functions in other clinical areas.
• When scrubbed, assists with draping patient.
• Arranges instruments and supplies in a convenient manner.
• Opens and prepares sutures.
• Assists surgeon throughout operation by providing sterile instruments and supplies required to perform the procedure.
• Assures a sterile field is maintained in and around the operating site during the procedure.
• Counts sponges and needles with circulating nurse as applicable.
• Cleans instruments at end of each case. Cleans O.R. at end of each case.
• Demonstrates effective communication skills.
• Complies with safety and emergency procedures consistent with center policy. Participates in unit cost containment measures. Performs other duties as deemed necessary.

• Graduate of an accredited School of Registered Nursing.
• Active Florida RN license.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in O.R.
• Current CPR, ACLS certification.
• Preferred: CNOR.
