Qualifications

Day Shift Monday-Friday, On-call to include nights/weekends/holidays

Description:

The Registered Nurse (RN) assesses, implements or delegates, plans, and evaluates total nursing care and functions in accordance with established philosophy, providing and directing patient care for a group of patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) relates effectively with other shifts/departments for optimal continuity of care.

Responsibilities:

• Patient Advocacy: Circulator nurse will act as advocate for the patient. They will verify the patient’s identity, confirm the surgical site, and ensure the patient’s consent is on record.
• Maintaining a Sterile Environment: Maintaining a sterile environment in the OR is crucial to prevent infections. Nurse will be responsible for ensuring the surgical team follows strict aseptic techniques and guidelines.
• Instrument and Supply Management: Oversee the inventory of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment needed for the procedure. Nurse will ensure that everything is readily available and in good condition.
• Documentation: Accurate documentation is essential for patient records and legal purposes. Circulator nurse will document the surgical process, the team involved, and any complications that may arise.
• Communication: Effective communication is key in the operating room. Circulator nurse liaise between the surgical team, the patient, and the patient’s family, keeping everyone informed about the surgery’s progress.
• Patient Safety: Ensuring the patient’s safety during the procedure is their top priority. Nurse will monitor vital signs, confirm the surgical site, and address any concerns promptly.

Qualifications:

• RN License in state of employment or compact
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (preferred)
• Active BLS, ACLS, PALS
• Minimum 1 year of experience in an operating room setting
