Job Overview

Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurs e (RN) to join our Operating Room team as a Circulator at our Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN!

Our Operating Room nursing staff provides quality and compassionate care for patients. Our team of nurses and techs/nursing assistants work closely with multiple disciplines to provide a patient and family centered experience. With our strategic location just south of the Minnesota River, Ridges Hospital promotes the health of our surrounding communities and continues to experience growth!

About Fairview Ridges:

  • At Ridges Hospital we perform approximately 8,000 surgical cases per year in our 12 OR rooms using the latest in technology.
  • Perianesthesia supports 12 PACU bays and 18 Pre/post op Bays.
  • OR specialty areas including: Spine, Ortho, OB-GYN, General, ENT, and Urology.
  • Proactive pre-admitting department that prepares Pediatrics-Adult patients in advance of their visit and collaborates closely with Anesthesia. Child Life is available on site to work with pediatric patient.
  • Procedures range from out-patient to surgical admissions, and include pediatric to geriatric patient population

Schedule: This is a casual position.

As an Operating Room RN, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing patient and family centered nursing care following established standards and practices.
  • The nurse will have a meaningful role in coordinating care with physicians, care coordinators, patients, and families.
  • Demonstrates knowledge about the psychologic, sociologic, and spiritual responses of patients and their families to the operative or other invasive procedure.
  • Implements protective measures prior to operative or invasive procedure, including measures to prevent skin or tissue injury due to thermal, mechanical, electrical and chemical sources.
  • Confirms identity before the operative or invasive procedure and v erifies operative procedure, surgical site and laterality.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assess, diagnose, implement and evaluate treatments and procedures that contribute to the physiological stability of the surgical patient.
  • Will serve as a circulator during operative procedures.
  • Applies safety devices, p erforms required counts, m anages specimen handling and disposition.
  • Applies principles of aseptic technique while establishing and maintaining sterile fields.
  • Supports patients’ rights and ethics by delivering consistent, proficient, and ethical care, within legal standards of practice, while maintaining privacy and support of the patient’s value system
  • Charge RN will be a responsibility for this position during the entire or part of the shift.

Required Qualifications:

  • MN RN licensure in good standing
  • BLS for health care providers
  • Previous RN OR experience
  • Charge Nurse experience require or willing to training into charge within your orientation period.

Preferred qualifications:

  • BSN or willingness to acquire in near future
  • Familiarity with EPIC
  • Experience working in a team and delegating
  • Experience working in a support role (if no experience as an RN) NA, PCA, NST or similar
