Job summary

LCMC Health in New Orleans (Louisiana) seeks a dedicated RN for Same Day Surgery. You will provide care before and after surgery, review histories, prepare for home recovery, and ensure safe, efficient flow. You will educate families, document care, and monitor post-operative status in a fast-paced team environment.

Requirements include an active Louisiana nursing license, BLS, ACLS and PALS, and at least 2 years of RN flex experience. Shift is Days in the United States.

Qualifications

• Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Current ACLS and PALS certifications.
• 2 years RN flex experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care before and after surgery, review patient history, set up IVs, and monitor vital signs.
• Educate and prepare patients and their families on home care after discharge.
• Perform required clinical documentation and pre- and post-operative assessments.
• Monitor patients after surgery for pain, complications, or infection following infection control requirements.
• Collaborate to identify and meet overall needs of patient care and maintain a safe environment.

Your Everyday Provide patient care before and after surgery, review patient history, set-up IVs, and monitor vital signs. Educate and prepare patients and their families on home care after discharge. Perform required clinical documentation and pre- and post-operative assessments. Monitor your patient after surgery for pain and/or complications and the surgery site for healing or infection following Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements. Perform CPR or other emergency measures if required. Collaborate to identify and meet the overall needs of patient care or when unable to complete assignments or perform tasks promptly, effectively, or safely. Maintain and advocate a safe environment for everyone. Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional experience for every patient. Initiate patient and family education on the operation and post-operation care as required.

The Must-Haves Minimum:

• Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Current ACLS and PALS certifications.
• 2 years RN flex experience

Preferred:

• BSN 1-year related experience
