Registered Nurse (RN) - Oncology/Palliative

Caregivers in our 3 Seidman Oncology/Palliative Unit provide medical, neurological, and telemetry care for inpatient and observation patients who have cancer, are receiving cancer treatments, are receiving other related treatments, and have other related diagnoses.

A caregiver in this position works 7:00am - 7:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  1. Provide direct nursing care.
  2. Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans.
  3. Monitor, record, document, and communicate patients' conditions.
  4. Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  5. Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  6. Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs.
  7. Educate patients and their families.
  8. Complete ONS Chemo/Bio course within two years of hire if employed on units where chemo is administered.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  1. Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  2. Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  3. One year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider military RN experience.
  4. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  1. Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements:

  1. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  2. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  3. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  4. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  5. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  6. Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  7. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
