Job description

Overview

Oncology nurses have a special opportunity to care for patients and families during their cancer journeys, from initial diagnosis to end-of-life comfort. They build bonds with patients and become a vital part of their stories.

Qualifications
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA); Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Education: H.S. Diploma/GED
Responsibilities
  • Perform duties specific to the unit's scope of service, including implementing procedures and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Conduct initial assessments, develop and modify care plans based on patient and family needs.
  • Ensure safety, communicate effectively, offer feedback, and identify learning needs.
  • Perform patient care duties such as assessments, IV starts, NG insertions, dressing changes, medication administration, Foley catheter insertions, port access and maintenance, bone marrow aspirations, emotional support, and chemotherapy/biotherapy administration across units.

Compensation and Benefits
