Job summary

Astera Health in Minnesota seeks experienced OB RNs to join our team for night shifts with 0.9, 0.75, or 0.6 FTE options and a $5,000 sign-on bonus. You will coordinate nursing care with medical orders and assist in deliveries, including C-sections, while providing pain management and discharge education.

Qualifications

• Minnesota RN license required.
• Active BLS certification required.
• Minimum 6 months RN experience in obstetrics preferred.
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and float as needed.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates nursing plan of care with medical orders for obstetrical patients.
• Assists provider with examinations, deliveries and pregnancies.
• Delivers safe labor support and maternal/infant care.
• Provides individualized pain management and patient teaching for discharge.
• Initiates Basic Life Support if needed and ensures safe patient care.

Astera Health is currently expanding our OB openings to have two OB RNs on duty and has the following availability open:- 0.9 FTE, 72 hours biweekly, 12-hour night shifts- 0.75 FTE, 60 hours biweekly, 12-hour night shifts- 0.6 FTE, 48 hours biweekly, 12-hour night shiftsEach position will include every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation.This position also includes a $5,000 sign on bonus!Essential Duties:Coordinates the nursing plan of care with the medical orders to provide safe obstetrical care. Uses and documents the nursing process to provide individualized patient care. Observes, documents, and reports to the provider subjective/objective patient data in an accurate and timely manner.Assists the provider with examinations and procedures for safe maternal/infant care.Actively provides nursing care to laboring mothers and monitors laboring process.Provides safe individualized pain management through a multidisciplinary approach, as needed.Performs delivery preparations indicated, i.e., IV’s and pain management options.Uses and maintains equipment in obstetrical areas, i.e., fetal heart monitor, infant warmer, oxygen supplies, birthing bed, and stocks supplies to ensure safe, effective patient care.Sets up room for delivery and assists the provider in delivery care for the newborn. Scrubs in and assists in care of infant in C-section deliveries.Conducts and documents patient teaching and discharge instructions with patient, partner and significant others and appropriate health care providers to ensure safe continuity of care.Performs patient care activities to provide for the physical, social, psychological, and spiritual needs of the patient/family.Establishes and performs ongoing culturally sensitive patient/family teaching and discharge planning to meet the identified goals of the patient care plan. Encourages patient/family participation in assuring a safe hospital experience.Initiates and/or assists with Basic Cardiac Life Support in cardiopulmonary arrest (when indicated) using appropriate age and size related equipment for adult and neonatal emergencies.Relays and interprets patient data and information to ancillary departments and health agencies, i.e., test requests, transfer sheets, discharge forms, diagnostic study results, to accommodate continuity of care.Participates in performance improvement initiatives, identifies problems and acts related to opportunities for improvement for informal as well as formal patient needs and processes.
