Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a full-time OB/GYN Ambulatory Staff Nurse in Waltham. You will apply nursing processes and evidence-based care to deliver high-quality outcomes for patients and families while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires an RN license, BSN, and experience with electronic fetal monitoring. Strong communication, critical thinking, and a patient-family-centered approach are essential in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate's Degree Nursing or Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred.
  • RN license (state license) required.
  • Experience: electronic fetal monitoring experience preferred; multi-disciplinary teamwork.
  • AHA BLS certification required.
  • Strong communication with patients and families; patient and family education.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes nursing process and evidence-based care to achieve outcomes for patients and families.
  • Provides competent, compassionate nursing care based on nursing process and primary nursing model.
  • Identifies and evaluates outcomes of nursing care for individuals or groups.

  • Utilizes the nursing process, evidence-based science, and collaboration with other healthcare disciplines to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients and families
  • Provides competent, compassionate nursing care based on scientific principles and the use of nursing process and a primary nursing model.
  • Identifies, facilitates, and evaluates outcomes of nursing care for an individual patient or groups of patients.
  • Coordinates involvement of the patient, family, and health team members in patient care, including patient/family teaching.
  • Participates in orientation of new permanent and temporary staff members.
  • Participates in daily operational activities necessary for safe patient/staff environment.
  • Participates in and contributes to performance improvement activities for the unit.
Skills and Experience for a(n)OB/GYN Ambulatory Staff Nurse
  • MA RN license required
  • BSN required
  • Required to work with a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team, communicate effectively, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Critical thinking skills required
  • Required to work with patients and families while developing respectful, trusting, and ongoing relationships

Summary

Accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessment of patients’ clinical decision-making regarding nursing care, assuring nursing care is provided in a safe and competent manner, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain accurate, detailed reports, and records.
  • Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
  • Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
  • Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
  • Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
  • Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
