Job summary

Mass General Brigham's Mass General Hospital in Boston is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for ambulatory Urology care. The Staff Nurse will perform patient assessment, pre- and post-operative teaching, medication administration, and collaborate with the care team to develop effective treatment plans.

Job Summary

Registered Nurse, RN Overview: The staff nurse is a Registered Nurse (RN) who is responsible for providing compassionate care to and assessment of ambulatory patients within the Department of Urology. The Staff Nurse is responsible for screening patients, providing patients pre- and post-operative teaching, assisting with office procedures, and verifying test results. The Staff Nurse will work collaboratively with the members of the care team to develop treatment plans that will achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Patient Services and Procedures
  • Administers medications/injections when necessary
  • Assists with office-based procedures when necessary
  • Examinations - Performs pre-operative teaching and answers relevant questions
  • Performs post-operative teaching and answers relevant questions
  • Facilitates clinical sessions for physicians by reviewing the relevant patient history, physical examinations and reason for the visit, and records this information within the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Monitors patient medication lists needed for prescriptions and other supporting clinical data necessary to support clinical care
Visit Support
  • Returns patient calls that require clinical input
  • Gets in touch with patients on a case-by-case basis, or as instructed by the supervising provider
Phone Triage
  • Staffs nurse triage phone line, as assigned, fielding clinical calls from patients
  • Triages patients to appropriate caregivers based on level of urgency and patient needs Administrative

  • Maintains Commonwealth of Massachusetts and MGH compliance requirements
  • Active participation in the development and sharing of standard processes through interdepartmental meetings
