Position Details

Job Title: RN Nursing Supervisor

Reports to: Director of Nursing

Job Summary

The RN Nursing Supervisor oversees nursing staff operations, including practice, protocols, and staff education on policies, procedures, and equipment. Responsible for directing and supervising staff to ensure quality patient care. Shifts include evenings and/or nights, with weekend availability required.

Responsibilities
  1. Serve as the administrative leader in the absence of the Administrator and Director of Nursing during off-shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  2. Complete rounds on all units at least three times per shift.
  3. Collaborate with families and residents to resolve issues, provide education, and maintain confidentiality.
  4. Monitor resident information and diagnostic results to determine follow-up needs.
  5. Administer medications safely as per facility policy.
  6. Perform treatments following the Skin Care Protocol and preventive skin care policies.
  7. Transcribe, verify, and execute orders from MD/Nurse Practitioners.
  8. Act as Charge Nurse when needed.
  9. Educate staff on new policies and assist in onboarding new employees.
  10. Manage call-ins and staff coverage to ensure all units are adequately staffed.
  11. Follow all departmental memos and guidelines.
  12. Assist in managing the nursing department budget and supplies.
  13. Evaluate and document employee incidents and injuries.
  14. Ensure availability of necessary equipment, supplies, and medications.
  15. Participate in QA processes and audits to improve performance.
  16. Contribute to staff evaluations and disciplinary documentation.
  17. Maintain safety through routine building rounds and reporting issues.
  18. Assist with resident death notifications and documentation.
  19. Assess residents with changed conditions and notify MD/Nurse Practitioner accordingly.
  20. Keep the Administrator on-call informed of issues.
  21. Investigate reports of resident abuse.
  22. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Effective communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and irregular hours, including on-call responsibilities.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate care to elderly and disabled residents.
  • Knowledge of resident rights, safety regulations, infection control, and emergency procedures.
Education and Experience
  • Current NYS RN license.
  • Preferred: 1 year of Medical/Surgical and Gerontology experience.
  • Participation in QA, CQI, cross-training, and mandatory training programs.
  • Availability for staff meetings, seminars, and workshops.
  • Experience with infection control, emergency drills, and safety procedures.

*Full-time positions available. Pay range: $34.00-$43.45/hour, based on experience and qualifications.
