Job summary

Suncoast Hospice, part of Empath Health, is recruiting recent graduates for a 12-month Nurse Residency program designed to prepare you to become a Certified Hospice Nurse after completing the residency. You will be scheduled for 40 hours a week, typically 3x12 hour shifts in the Hospice House, plus ongoing clinical education and rotations across hospice teams.

Eligible candidates include those with ASN or BSN, Florida RN license or compact license, and CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Recent grads welcome; RN residency requires less than 1 year RN experience.
• ASN or BSN from an accredited program required.
• Current Florida RN License or multi-state compact license required.
• CPR certification from Red Cross or AHA required.
• Preference for hospice or ALF clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a 12-month Nurse Residency program with clinical coaching.
• Weekly classroom education related to hospice patient and family care.
• Schedule: 40 hours per week with 3x12 hour shifts in Hospice House.
• Six months of practical hospice clinical experience under a coach/preceptor.
• Rotations with Hospice teams including Home, ALF, and Admissions services.
• Join the team in the seventh month with continued orientation as needed.
• $5,000 sign-on bonus.

What you’ll Do

• We offer a 3:1 Nurse Resident / Clinical Coach ratio!
• Weekly classroom education pertaining to the care of hospice patients & families will prepare the Nurse Resident to become a Certified Hospice Nurse after completion of the program. Exam fees are covered by Empath Health.
• Schedule: 40 hours per week. Typically, 3x12 hour shifts in the Hospice House and 4 hours of clinical education per week.
• Six months of practical experience facilitated by a Hospice Clinical Coach/Preceptor in a hospice house setting.
• Scheduled rotations with other hospice teams as well as theHome, ALF, and Admissions service lines.
• No Medical/surgical experience necessary
• The Nurse Resident joins his or her new team in the seventh month with continued individualized orientation as needed.

What You’ll Need

• Recent grads welcome to apply! Must have less than 1 year of RN experience for the residency program.
• ASN or BSN degree from an accredited program required.
• Current Florida RN License or multi-state compact license required.
• Valid CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Prefers clinical experience with hospice or ALF patients.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and have means of transportation.
• Must have medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before having direct participant contact.
