Job Description: RN Supervisor

Department: Nursing
Reports to: DON

Summary

The Nurse shall exercise professional judgment in activities that maximize residents' well-being, quality of life, and quality of care, adhering to federal, state, and local standards and regulations. May be directed by the Administrator, Medical Director, or Attending Physician.

Qualifications
  • RN with an active license to practice in NC
  • CURRENT CPR certification
  • Understanding or ability to learn state and federal regulations governing a nursing home
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions through root cause analysis
Objectives

Essential duties include monitoring and directing nursing services, staff education, participating in surveys, developing corrective plans, resident admission/discharge, disaster preparedness, committee participation, reporting, recruitment, staffing, performance evaluations, resident care oversight, medication administration, staff discipline, and compliance with policies and regulations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Coordinate responsibilities, train employees, plan and assign work, appraise performance, and address staff issues according to organizational policies.

Working Conditions

Work in office and nursing areas, handle interruptions, interact with residents and staff, and work beyond normal hours including weekends and holidays. Rotate call coverage with other nurses and participate in continuing education.

Physical Demands

Move throughout the workday, see and hear adequately, work independently, and lift/move up to 50 pounds when necessary.
