The Nurse shall exercise professional judgment to maximize residents' well-being, quality of life, and quality of care, in accordance with all applicable standards and regulations. May be directed by the Administrator, Medical Director, or Attending Physician.
Monitor and direct all aspects of the nursing service department with DON oversight, assist in developing coordination methods, provide staff education, participate in surveys, develop and implement corrective plans, oversee admissions/discharges, assist during emergencies, serve on committees, prepare reports, assist in staff recruitment, ensure staffing levels, develop work assignments, evaluate staff performance, conduct daily rounds, monitor absenteeism, communicate resident needs, oversee resident care areas, ensure policy compliance, assist during emergencies, support families, discipline staff when necessary, manage staffing calls, review medication records, monitor staff breaks, ensure accurate physician orders, uphold resident privacy, maintain cleanliness and safety, and perform other duties as assigned.
Coordinate staff training, planning, assigning, performance appraisal, and discipline in accordance with organizational policies and regulations.
Work in office and nursing areas, move intermittently, handle interruptions, interact with residents, staff, visitors, and agencies, work beyond normal hours, participate in continuing education, handle hazardous chemicals, and respond to emergency conditions. Must be able to work holidays and weekends as needed.
Rotate call with other nurses, participate in continuing education, and be prepared for exposure to various physical and environmental hazards.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret data, present information effectively, and communicate in English. Physically capable of moving, seeing, hearing, and working in various physical positions, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
