As an integral member of the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) healthcare team, the Registered Professional Nurse (RN) upholds the YNHHS mission, vision, values and strategic initiatives to provide the highest level of patient-centered care. The RN practices professional nursing within the legal and ethical framework established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Scope and Standards for Nursing Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model. The role involves leadership, delegation, collaboration, effective communication, and ensuring quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

1. Standards of Practice: Follow ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, which include assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
2. Standards of Professional Performance: Engage in ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, effective communication, collaboration, leadership, ongoing education, evidence-based practice, resource utilization, and environmental health. Be accountable for professional actions.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Current BCLS certification required within one month of hire.
• Experience: Registered Nurse with encouragement to advance through SPIRE clinical program. Minimum of 3 years ICU experience required.
• Licensure: Licensed and registered in Connecticut. Specialty certification encouraged.
• Physical Demands: Prolonged standing, walking, exposure to infectious diseases, physical and emotional stress, ability to lift up to 300 pounds, and assist with patient mobility.
