Job summary

Samaritan Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Observation/Clinical Decision Unit. The 10-12 bed unit handles rapid patient turnover and admissions from the ED, with potential to act as a discharge lounge when census allows.

The role collaborates with Hospitalists and CM/UM on the unit. The RN will deliver care, assess needs, and plan interventions for patients in a fast-paced setting, ensuring high-quality outcomes and patient safety.

Qualifications

• A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.
• ASN required, BSN preferred from an accredited nursing program.
• RN must be able to assess, plan, direct, intervene and evaluate patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assess the needs of each patient where assigned.
• Plan the nursing care needed, including spiritual, emotional and physiological needs; ensure plan is carried out and evaluated.
• Be directly accountable to the Nurse Manager for quality of care delivered.
• Deliver care tailored to age, growth and development of patients per unit scope of services.
• When in charge, handle clinical and leadership functions, assessing patient needs and planning care.
