Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Clinical Shift Coordinator to lead nursing operations on a busy unit, supervising staff and coordinating patient care. This role emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, and effective communication with patients and colleagues.

The position requires three 12-hour shifts per week (7p–7:30a) with every third weekend and rotating holidays, guiding the team to deliver high-quality care and staff development on a sustainable schedule.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited program and active IL RN license.
• BLS certification and knowledge of telemetry required.
• Strong communication, leadership and customer service skills.
• Proficient with clinical documentation and basic computer tools.

Responsibilities

• Leads staff on shift, ensures unit staffing and patient safety.
• Coordinates patient care, documents critical data and regulatory compliance.
• Oversees daily unit operations, supports performance improvement efforts.
• Collaborates with manager on orientation, training and precepting.
• Delivers timely information to patients and families and manages service recovery.
