Job summary

Corewell Health Dearborn NICU is a Level 3 neonatal unit delivering specialized care with a team-based culture. The RN provides professional nursing care to neonates using the nursing process, emphasizing patient-family centered care and education for families and staff collaboration.

Licensed RNs with a nursing degree who meet state requirements, BLS and NRP within 6 months, and NICU interest or experience are encouraged to apply; 36-hour/week night shifts with a comprehensive benefits package

Qualifications

• RN with Associates or Diploma in Nursing or Bachelor’s degree required.
• MI RN license required or within 60 days of hire for new grads.
• NCLEX licensure required for non-accredited grads or as applicable.
• BLS certification expected; NRP within 6 months of hire/transfer.
• NICU experience preferred; new grads may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care using the nursing process and family-centered care.
• Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge patient care.
• Collaborate with Nurse Leader and multidisciplinary team to plan and educate.
• Document education and learning in the health record according to policy.

About The Unit

This is a 30 bed Level 3 neonatal critical care unit. NICU has a very team like atmosphere. A Neonatologist and NNP are on the unit 24 hours a day. Nursing participates in many nursing councils across the hospital. NICU nurses are NRP certified and attend all high-risk deliveries in labor and delivery. NICU nurses along with a multidisciplinary team participate in transporting infants from neighboring hospitals to Beaumont Dearborn's NICU.

Scope of work

The RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.

Qualifications

• Associates or Diploma in Nursing Required
• Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years if new graduate/nurse with less than one (1) year experience
• Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) required or if new grad within 60 days of hire
• AHA, ARC, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire/transfer
• NRP within 6 months of hire/transfer
• Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years
• Prefer RN experience, ideally in NICU. May consider new graduates.
