Overview:

The New Graduate Registered Nurse is a full-time position with a one-year Nurse Residency Program designed to transition new graduates into professional nurses. The program combines on-the-job training with classroom education, fostering relationships with peers and collaboration on projects that improve patient care. Support is provided by the Nurse Manager, Preceptor, Mentor, and other staff.

The curriculum emphasizes Clinical Leadership, Patient Safety and Outcomes, and the Professional Role of a Registered Nurse. Monthly sessions lay a foundation for lifelong learning, culminating in an evidence-based practice project addressing clinical issues identified by the group.

Responsibilities include delegation, supervision, and nursing care for assigned patients, utilizing the nursing process, and incorporating research into clinical practice.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in Illinois
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• Ability to position and transfer adult patients, perform manipulative skills like IV insertions and injections, and withstand prolonged standing
