Job summary

Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston seeks a full-time RN for the Neurosciences ICU. You will care for critically ill neuro patients on a 22-bed unit, collaborating with a medical team in a fast-paced environment and utilizing bedside CT when required.

Job Summary

We are currently seeking a full time RN for the Neurosciences ICU at MGH. If you have experience working with neuro patients, this could be an opportunity for you.

BSN Preferred

Neuro and critical care experience are preferred, but candidates with experience in general acute care and demonstrating a strong interest in the neuroscience specialty will also be considered

  • You will be caring for critically ill patients who have a variety of neurological diagnoses including stroke, brain hemorrhage, brain or back surgery, heal trauma or spinal cord injury
  • 22 bed unit, adult population
  • work along-side a medical team in a challenging, fast-paced environment to build a professional practice and fulfilling career.

Patients may require life support systems, including mechanical ventilation for unstable respiratory status and/or medication via continuous infusion to maintain cardiovascular status.

Accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessment of patients' clinical decision-making regarding nursing care, assuring nursing care is provided in a safe and competent manner, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain accurate, detailed reports, and records.
  • Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
  • Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
  • Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
  • Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
  • Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
