St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse (RN) for the MS1D Oncology unit, night shift 7pm–7:30am. You will provide direct and indirect patient care, assess learning needs, document care plans, and collaborate with the interprofessional team.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited school of nursing.
• PA RN License is required to practice in Pennsylvania.
• AHA BLS certification is required for patient safety.
• Chemo certification is preferred to support oncology care.

Responsibilities

• Assesses learning needs, readiness to learn and identifies barriers, incorporating patient education into daily care.
• Documents admission assessments, plans, interventions and medication use with outcomes.
• Uses information systems to communicate changes and prioritizes nursing tasks.
• Communicates transfer of patient responsibility at bedside and during rounds.
• Recognizes special patient needs and referrals for abuse or safeguarding.
• Includes pain management and supportive care in the plan of care.
• Maintains infection control standards and a safe, clean environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Purpose

The primary objective of this position is to provide quality of care. Responsible for the direct and/or indirect care of patients assigned utilizing professional nursing skills and knowledge.

Unit Overview

Med/Surg oncology unit with 16 beds in private rooms.

As a Registered Nurse, you will

• Assesses learning needs, readiness to learn and identify actual or potential barriers to learning and thereby incorporating the patient's education into daily activities based on age, cultural and spiritual values.
• Documents admission assessment / reassessment, plan, interventions and medication use and monitors its effects and outcomes according to policy.
• Utilizes the information management system to enhance communication and documents change in-patients condition to all appropriate individuals. Prioritizes work assignment based on changing situations.
• Communicates transfer of patient responsibility and pertinent information at the bedside and during Interprofessional Rounds
• Recognizes and integrates patient special needs and individualizes care and knowledgeable in abuse recognition and referral
• Includes pain management and supportive care issues in the plan of care.
• Adheres to infection control standards specific to patient care and by promotes and maintains a safe, clean and orderly environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• BSN required from an accredited school of nursing.
• PA RN License
• AHA BLS
• Chemo certification preferred.
