Cynet Health is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week telemetry assignment on a mixed Med Surg/Telemetry unit in Bakersfield, California. The role requires strong assessment skills and the ability to handle admissions, discharges, and complex rhythms.
Shifts are 12 hours in the day with a 36-hour week. Licensure is required, along with BLS, ACLS, NIHSS. Cerner experience is preferred; training may be provided as needed.

Description:This is a mixed unit with a fast-paced environment.Expect many admissions and discharges due to surgical volume.There are 39 beds, including 39 private rooms and 1 semi-private room.Ratios are 1 to 4 telemetry patients and 1 to 5 Med Surg patients.Assignments can include a mix of Med Surg and telemetry.Common combinations could be 3 Med Surg and 1 telemetry or 2 Med Surg and 2 telemetry.BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required.Cerner experience is preferred; candidates with Cerner experience may test out of training.A house supervisor is available 24/7, along with nurse managers during normal business hours.There are charge nurses and break nurses each shift.Certified nursing assistants (CNAs) are based on the census.Travelers must work four shifts in a four-week schedule.Weekend shifts for nights are Friday/Saturday and Saturday/Sunday for days.Travelers should be prepared to work into the permanent staff holiday rotation.Scrub color is navy blue, including any jacket or undershirt.Telemetry monitoring must include the ability to read and interpret all cardiac rhythms.Non-invasive ventilation (CPAP or BiPAP) is available through respiratory therapy.Clientists or intensivists are on call after hours.Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7.Shifts are 12 hours, from 7 AM to 7:30 PM, with strict attendance policies.Travelers are the first to float and may float between Med Surg and telemetry units.They may also float to any Med Surg/telemetry unit, including the ICU for Med Surg patients if necessary.Common diagnoses include acute and chronic medical conditions, post-surgical patients, stroke patients, and non-titratable drips.The environment is welcoming, but it is a mixed unit that can be challenging.It is important to prioritize patient safety, and any issues that compromise safety will not be tolerated.Cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled during a 13-week assignment.Charting is done using Cerner.
