The role requires NC RN licensure, BSN/AD, and certifications (BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN fetal monitoring). Collaboration with obstetricians is essential, with weekend/holiday shifts and call rotations as needed.
The 2A (Mother baby) RN is responsible for providing comprehensive care to new mothers and their babies, including monitoring maternal and newborn vital signs, administering medication and providing education on breastfeeding, infant care and maternal recovery. They also play a crucial role in identifying and addressing any complications that may arise during the postpartum period, while working closely with obstetricians and other members of the healthcare team to ensure that new mothers and their babies receive the best possible care.
