Job summary

Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Medical ICU. This fast-paced unit handles high-acuity cases with a 40-bed team that includes intensivists, pharmacists, APPs, social workers, and nutritionists.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program.
• RN – Registered Nurse with minimum 1 year ICU experience.
• BLS – Basic Life Support required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Work in a fast-paced Medical ICU caring for high-acuity patients.
• Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds with pharmacists, APPs, physicians, social work and nutritionists.
• Support a 40-bed closed unit with 24/7 coverage by Intensive Care Physicians and staff.

Medical ICU

Patient Population: Sepsis, Pneumonia/ Respiratory Failure, CRRT: Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy, Multiorgan System Failure, DKA, Post-cardiac Arrest, Target Temperature Management (TTM), Massive Transfusion, GI bleed, Overflow Stroke, Overdose, Maternal Health/Obstetrics Complications.

Patient Ratios: 1:2

Department Specifics: 40 beds, closed unit with 24/7 coverage by Intensive Care Physicians, Daily Multidisciplinary Rounds including Pharmacists, APP, Physicians, Social Work, Nutritionist, Respiratory Therapists. Shared Governance Committees, Staffing/Scheduling Committee, Quality Champions, CLABSI, CAUTI, SKIN, Sunshine Committee: recognition and retention, National Conferences: Magnet, NTI. BLS/ACLS required, 16 weeks Residency Program, 1 year Transition to Practice Program.
