This RN Medsurg role is on our Oncology Unit at Cobb Hospital.

Schedule: 7pm-7am, 36-hour week.

Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality, safe patient care. They practice within a clinical environment supported by Nurse Managers and the Wellstar Shared Governance Model, guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practices. RN competencies are aligned with these models and Wellstar Values.

All RN Clinical Nurses must be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the standards outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and the American Nurses Association's Code of Ethics. They are expected to advocate for patients, adhere to policies, and support service excellence.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions

• Perform nursing processes (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence-based practice and critical thinking, ensuring individualized care.
• Provide relationship-based, patient-centered care considering cultural diversity.
• Partner with patients and families through effective communication and shared decision-making.
• Practice according to current clinical standards.

Teamwork and Collaboration

• Coordinate safe, quality care and maintain proper documentation.
• Demonstrate teamwork, practice responsibly, and support staff recruitment and retention.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and promote shared governance.

Professional Development and Initiative

• Complete required competencies and ongoing education.
• Serve as preceptor or mentor to foster a qualified workforce.

Evidence-Based Practice and Research

• Promote evidence-based practice and research activities.
• Uphold organizational policies, standards, and legal/regulatory requirements.
• Participate in data collection and clinical research questions.

Resources and Support

• Plan proactively for patient care across the continuum.
• Develop protocols and support resource efficiency.
• Support effective use of resources.

Minimum Education

• Associates or Bachelors in Nursing (preferred).

Minimum Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Nurse (single state) or RN - Multi-state Compact.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Experience

• Less than 1 year of clinical experience post-graduation preferred.

Skills

• Ability to perform nursing assessments, communicate effectively, and collaborate with team members.
