Job Summary
The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality, safe patient care tailored to individual needs. They operate within a clinical environment supported by Nurse Managers and the Wellstar Shared Governance Model, guided by evidence-based practice, the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, and the ANA Code of Ethics. All RNs are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the standards set by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Perform nursing assessments, diagnoses, planning, implementation, and evaluation based on evidence-based practice, ensuring individualized care and effective partnerships.
- Deliver relationship-based, patient-centered care that respects cultural diversity and patient preferences.
- Partner with patients and families through methods like bedside reports and patient education, focusing on patient goals.
- Practice according to current clinical standards.
Teamwork and Collaboration
- Coordinate safe, quality care with proper documentation and respectful interdisciplinary communication.
- Demonstrate teamwork, practicing responsibly and supporting staff recruitment and retention.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and shared governance activities.
Professional Development and Initiative
- Complete required competency assessments and ongoing education.
- Serve as preceptor or mentor to foster a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.
Evidence-Based Practice and Research
- Promote evidence-based practice, participate in research, and support performance improvement.
- Adhere to organizational policies, standards, and legal requirements, including safety goals.
- Engage in data collection and clinical inquiry, consulting experts as needed.
Resources and Support
- Plan patient care proactively across the continuum.
- Develop protocols to improve outcomes like readmission rates and adverse events.
- Utilize resources efficiently.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates or Bachelors in Nursing (preferred)
- Valid RN license (single state or multi-state compact)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Experience and Skills
- Minimum 5 years of RN experience, preferred in direct patient care
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies effectively
