Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital in Florida is seeking an experienced RN for the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) to provide high-quality, round-the-clock care. The role is night-shift, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m., with a focus on patient advocacy and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes.

You will develop and monitor care plans, educate families, coordinate discharges, and uphold safety protocols while advancing your clinical skills through Cleveland Clinic

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN, or BSN).
• Current RN licensure in the state of Florida.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within hire or within first year.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in the MICU.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record and communicate patients' conditions.
• Evaluate and revise plans of care to meet outcomes.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs.
• Educate patients and families with appropriate materials.
• Administer prescribed medications per nursing protocol.

Martin North Hospital's Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) provides 24/7 care for critically ill patients. It has a shared governance professional practice model that allows for multidisciplinary team collaboration, working on solutions to best innovate, improve and advance their mission. As an RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, from initial introduction to discharge. In this role, you will be a patient advocate and provide expert care in critical situations. You will interact directly with patients, families, and visitors, helping enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including advanced clinical training, certifications, educational programs, and more. You may also float to other Martin locations, creating another avenue through which to develop knowledge within various units.

A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and family with educational materials considering cultural issues and other special concerns
• Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with approved nursing protocol

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS American Red Cross upon hire or within first year of employment
• One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Critical care experience

Physical Requirements:

• Full range of body motion for handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
• Standing and walking for extended periods of time
• Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
• Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
• Medium Work, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• Physical Demand requirements in excess of those for Light Work
