Job summary

Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL, is launching a Critical Care Nurse Transition Program for experienced acute care RNs aiming to move into Critical Care Nursing. You will train with a critical care nurse preceptor for 8–12 weeks and have 8 weeks dedicated education time.

The program supports a 36-hour work week with a night shift (7:00pm–7:30am); classroom hours are day shift, and precepted shifts may be days or nights. Start date: Monday, January 18, 2027.

Qualifications

• Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure
• CPR Certification (AHA or Red Cross)
• Minimum 1 year of inpatient RN experience
• If ADN is highest degree, must graduate with a BSN within five years of start date

Responsibilities

• Provides professional nursing care in accordance with Illinois RN Practice Act and hospital policies.
• Assesss patients’ condition, monitor progress, document observations, and delegate tasks as needed.
• Collaborates with the care team to achieve unit goals.

Hourly Pay Range:

$37.25 - $57.74 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

What you will do:

Edward Hospital is delighted to offer a new Critical Care Nurse Transition Program. This program is for experienced acute care nurses who have a desire to transition into Critical Care Nursing. During this program, candidates will train with a critical care nurse preceptor for 8-12 weeks and have 8 weeks dedicated education time.

Job Summary:

• Provides professional nursing carein accordance with the Illinois Professional Registered Nurse Practice Act, and hospital policies and procedures. Employs critical thinking skills, assesses patients' condition, recognizes changes, plans and evaluates care, monitors patients' progress, and records pertinent observations. Delegates appropriate patient care tasks to other staff. Functions as a team member to fulfill unit goals.

Required Education, Licensure, Skills, Certification and/or Experience:

• Associate Degree or higher in Nursing
• If Associate Degree in Nursing is the highest degree held, must graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing within five years of position start date.
• Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure
• Current CPR Certification issued by either American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Minimum 1 year of inpatient RN experience

Preferred Education, Certification, Skills and/or Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Nursing
• Completion of ECG monitoring course
• ACLS certification
• NIH Stroke Scale certification
• 2 years of inpatient RN experience
