Job summary

Pride Health seeks an experienced Med/Surg/Telemetry RN for a 12-bed inpatient unit serving adults and geriatrics with complex conditions.

You will monitor cardiac status, interpret rhythms, administer meds, and document in Epic EMR. This role requires strong critical-thinking, telemetry expertise, and a current Virginia RN license with BLS. Night shift, 48 hours/week, 16-week contract in Charlottesville.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg/Telemetry RN experience.
• Strong experience caring for medically complex adult and geriatric patients.
• Demonstrated competency in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management.
• Epic EMR experience is required.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Experience with heparin protocols and insulin infusions strongly preferred.
• Experience with chest tubes, tracheostomy care, PCA pumps, wound vacs, renal failure, and isolation precautions preferred.
• Active or pending Virginia RN license; pending licenses must be active/in hand before deadline.
• 16-week contract position; shift is 12 hrs/night (7:00 PM-7:00 AM), 48 hrs/week.
• Location is Charlottesville, VA 22908; locals not accepted within 50 miles.
• Pay Rate for Travelers: $2,700 - $2,726 Weekly.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a Med/Surg/Telemetry setting.
• Perform comprehensive assessments and continuously monitor patients for changes in cardiac and clinical status.
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and manage patients requiring continuous telemetry monitoring.
• Administer medications and manage IV therapies, including heparin infusions and insulin drips according to established protocols.
• Care for patients with respiratory illness, renal failure, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell disease, and cystic fibrosis.
• Manage specialized patient-care needs including chest tubes, tracheostomies, PCA pumps, wound vacs, and renal therapies.
• Perform wound care, infection-control procedures, isolation precautions, and other evidence-based nursing interventions.
• Document assessments, interventions, medication administration, and patient responses accurately in Epic EMR.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, IV therapy, physical therapy, social services, radiology, and rapid response teams.
• Prioritize patient care effectively and respond promptly to changes in condition or emergency situations.
• Float to other appropriate units within the RN's scope of practice when required.

This position requires strong telemetry monitoring, critical-thinking, medication administration, IV therapy, and comprehensive bedside nursing skills. The ideal candidate has recent acute-care experience and is proficient with Epic EMR.
