Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool. The full-time night shift offers a $7 night differential and requires floating to Medical-Surgical Telemetry, ED, ICU, and PACU as needed.

You will provide high-quality, patient‑centered care with 12-hour accountability, following the Watson Model of Care for a defined patient group and their families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Sciences degree preferred; ADN or nursing diploma acceptable.
• Active California nursing license required.
• Minimum 12 months Med/Surg/Telemetry or Critical Care nursing experience.
• Basic EKG competence; ACLS and BLS required.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Float throughout hospital to provide care for Medical-Surgical Telemetry patients.
• Work in inpatient Medical-Surgical Telemetry units, ED, ICU, or PACU as needed.
• Organize, plan, direct, and coordinate patient/family centered care per Watson model.

Education

Job Description

The Clinical Staff Nurse is a skilled and experienced professional Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for excellence in the clinical practice of nursing and the management of patient care. Reporting to the Manager Central Staffing, the RN will float as needed throughout the hospital to provide care for Medical-Surgical Telemetry patients.

The settings would include inpatient Medical-Surgical Telemetry units as well the Emergency Department, the Intensive Care Unit or the Post Anethesia Care Unit when overflow Medical-Surgical Telemetry are being boarded there.

The Clinical Staff Nurse has 12 hour accountability for organizing, planning, directing, coordinating, and providing high quality, individualized patient/family centered care based on the Watson Model of Care for a defined group of patients, including the identification and demonstration of abilities to meet special needs and considerations of Age and Population Specific awareness.

Qualifications

• Education
• Bachelor of Sciences degree preferred.
• Associate in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, or equivalent required.
• Qualifications/Experience
• Minimum of 12 months of clinical nursing experience.
• Minimum of 12 months of Med/Surg/Telemetry or Critical Care nursing experience preferred with regard to regulatory guidelines and standard of practice and/or at the discretion of the Manager/ Director
• Current California Nursing license
• Basic EKG Competence
• Certification in Progressive Critical Care Nursing preferred.
• Certification in Medical / Surgical Nursing preferred.
• Special Skills/Knowledge
• Bilingual skills preferred (Spanish)
• Basic computer skills
• Dysrrythmia Course certificate preferred.
• Electronic Medical Record experience preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Current Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
