Job summary

Allina Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 0.75 FTE, 12-hour night shift position at our Minneapolis facilities. The role covers high-acuity medical/surgical patients with a focus on evidence-based, patient-centered care.

The RN will assess needs, plan care, and collaborate with families and teams to achieve outcomes. Licensure requirements apply across MN/WI, with BLS and ACLS/ALS certifications commonly required, plus CMSRN preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Vocational degree required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Professional RN experience.
  • Medical/Surgical experience.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse – MN Board of Nursing required if MN; WI Department of Safety & Professional Services required if WI.
  • Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below: Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire).
  • Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below (Location specific, some sites may require): Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association or Current ALS certification from the American Red Cross or Allina in-house ACLS training (within 60 days of hire).
  • Certified Medical Surgical RN (CMSRN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive assessment of patient and family needs; identification of outcomes based on needs assessment; establishing the plan of care; supervising the progress; and modification of the plan of care as needed.
  • Maintains education and competencies to remain proficient to provide high quality patient care practice and skills.
  • Incorporates evidence-based nursing practice taking into consideration current statutes, rules and regulations when developing the plan of care.
  • Establishes, in the collaboration with the family and patient, realistic and measurable patient expected outcomes based on nursing diagnoses, patients present and potential capabilities, goals, available resources and plan for continuity of care.
  • Identifies outcomes that are age appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable.
  • Coordinates, collaborates, and delegates appropriately to ensure care is provided in a safe, effective fashion.
  • Fulfills all organizational requirements.
  • Supplemental roles: Charge Nurse; Preceptor as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Description:
Nursing is the assessment and treatment of human response to actual or potential health problems. This includes establishing an intentional therapeutic relationship between a registered nurse and a patient and family. As a leader and the integrator of care, the professional nurse has the responsibility, authority, and accountability for planning, coordinating and evaluating the patient’s care needs. Practices primarily on hospital units and care for patients that are acutely ill across a wide variety of medical issues and support recovery from surgery.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Charge Nurse (only when acting in this role). Demonstrates ability to coordinate, delegate, and direct unit operation, collaborates effectively with unit staff, leadership and other disciplines.
  • Preceptor (only when acting in this role). Demonstrates ability to identify the orientee's learning needs, plans appropriate learning experiences and demonstrates ability to validate clinical competence of orientee.

Physical Demands

Medium Work*: Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range Pay Range: $44.64 to $74.33 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
