The Registered Nurse may act as Charge Nurse in the Special Care Unit or as an Admission Nurse as part of the admission process. When acting as Charge Nurse the Registered Nurse is responsible for the nursing care of all the patients at La Hacienda. Additionally the Registered Nurse supervises and directs assigned nursing personnel for the duration of the shift. Demonstrates accountability and professionalism in regard to nursing action. When acting in the capacity of Admission Nurse the Registered Nurse is responsible for the Admission nursing assessment and the general nursing admission process.

Requirements

• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocation Nurse in the State of Texas.
• Must have current CPR Certification. (Will provide CPR Certification Class, if needed)
• Minimum of one year experience in general nursing and/or one year experience in psychiatric/substance abuse nursing preferred.
• CARN Certification is desirable.
• Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
• Must be able to walk across campus multiple times during a shift as required.
• Must be able to sit, bend, stoop and lift up to 20 pounds.
  
  

Schedule

• 12 hour shifts.
• Rotating nights and weekends.
• Schedule made at least 1 month in advance to allow work-life balance.
